Meet the Team


  • Founder

    Paul Reynolds is the founder of Covalent Group. Paul began his career in finance working for Goldman Sachs. His primary responsibility was managing middle office teams in Europe and Asia. He moved to the buy-side in 2012 when he joined a spin out platform, Decura Asset Management, founded by ex-Goldman Sachs Partners. As a founding team member, Paul helped to setup the $1bn fund platform from first principles. Since then, Paul has been and continues to be COO for multiple private investment managers, a full CV can be provided on request. Paul read at The London School of Economics and University College London and achieved a First Class Honours and a Dean’s List Distinction in Mechanical Engineering and Business Finance.

  • Associate

    Yuri joined Covalent Group as an Associate in January 2024 after successfully completing a week 10-week placement. He primarily focuses on and is responsible for providing operational support for investment funds and managed accounts. He previously worked 7 years as a Senior Project Manager in the Real Estate industry, spending time in both planning and execution as well as a client facing capacity.

    Yuri is a graduate from the University of Westminster where he achieved a degree in Business Management and Marketing (BA Hons).

  • ADVISORY BOARD

    Mathias Piardon is a Swiss-based investment professional with 25+ years of experience in the finance sector. He is the Founder and CIO of 1L Capital. Mathias started as equity derivatives trader in 1999 for Calyon on prop, market making, exotic products, dispersion, then Dresdner as head of equity derivatives trading Asia ex Japan. He was based in Zurich, London, Paris and Hong Kong, between 1997 and 2009. He resigned to co found a quant hedge fund, Noho Capital, based in Hong Kong and London. In Jan 2016, he joined a 1 bn USD fund of hedge funds in Zurich, Ayaltis AG, becoming deputy CIO and member of the Investment Committee. He resigned and left in Feb 2021 to create 1L Capital AG. He holds an MSc in Economics (France) and an MSc in Finance (UK).
